The incident took place Thursday, Sept. 5, when Jose Escalante-Chacon, of Riverside, entered Marta’s Deli in Riverside and threatened the clerk and displayed what appeared to be a firearm, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph.
Escalante-Chacon fled the scene and was located by New York State Police a short time later, Ralph said.
He was turned over to Southampton Town Police where he was identified and transported to headquarters for processing.
Escalante-Chacon was charged with robbery and menacing. He is being held for arraignment.
